Sunbeam Corp., the Boca Raton, Florida-based maker of such well-known brands as Sunbeam, Oster, Mr. Coffee, Coleman and First Alert, will long be remembered as more than a household name for electric appliances and camping equipment. Probably for years to come, the name “Sunbeam” will bring to mind a company that was notable for more than a decade of mismanagement and that relied on questionable accounting gimmicks and outright fraud to enhance earnings.
